Day 10 - 16/Jan/24 - Onward to Antarctica

From Ushuaia to the Antarctic archipelago, it takes about two days cruising. At 6:09am we passed through the South 60 degrees of latitude.  We started seeing more and more icebergs and the seas were totally flat or as Captain Kevin stated, "We're on Drake Lake" which refers to sailing across the Drake Passage in flat seas.  At 10am Captain Kevin addressed us in the Main Stage with live-streaming to the Rolling Stone Lounge and staterooms about our upcoming first two days.  For this voyage we're entering near the Palmer Station and then work our way up the archipelago.  Dr. Ed Butler gave a presentation on Marine Ecosystems in the Antarctic which was fascinating.  We ended spending much of the rest of the day in the Crow's Nest watching scenery and reading.

The above iceberg was much longer than our ship!

Our evening entertainment was Buddy Fitzpatrick, a very funny comedian that we also had on the Zaandam.  We then listened to two sets of Adam in Billboard Onboard.  His second set was 45 minutes of John Denver songs.  We tried to get to bed a bit earlier as our first day's scenic cruising would start fairly early.
